Political cartoons have always been a part of United States politics. One of the earliest evidence that we have is Benjamin Franklin’s cartoon of the “Join or Die” snake, an image that most U.S. school children we are all familiar with. Because of its humorous nature, political cartoons are a very effective tool used to criticize politicians, policies, and political agendas.
I’ve always enjoyed them, but I think 2017 has to be a peak year for political cartoons. I find myself LOL and LMAO harder and louder than I’ve ever had at the masterpieces that have come out about our 45th President.
Yes that guy. It’s the guy on the left, by the way, in chase you didn’t know. The other guy is Charles Manson the mass murderer, can you tell the difference?
I mean look at him, Trump was made to be drawn in cartoons. From his mannerism to his rhetoric, the toupee, the tiny hands, the ghastly Velveeta-orange tan, it’s all too perfect!
He is a muse to many. The man is practically supplying all the materials! It’s an easy year to be a political cartoonist.
I’ve gathered a few of my personal favorite cartoons to take us down memory lane, through Trump’s campaign, the poo-poo that he said during the campaign and his first few months in office. Read, laugh out of nervousness, enjoy!
If the next four years are going to be Hell then the least we can do is laugh our way through it.
I know, I know. You’ve been trying your best to suppress these memories but I am here to remind you that it’s not a dream and we are currently living in a cartoon show. And a very, very bad one.
Have a good day! (Except those that voted for Trump, y’all can choke.)
